SWELL Sculpture Festival 2021
Right around the corner is SWELL Sculpture Festival on Currumbin Beach. It’s free, offering large-scale sculptures to marvel at on the oceanside. Thought-provoking, inspiring and great fun to just stroll through and take in. There are also workshops and artist talks if you’re a budding sculptor yourself.
Get ready, as it comes for 10 days from September 10 to September 19.
Coolangatta Gold 2021
Also FREE. Ever experienced the Coolangatta Gold? It’s an iconic triathlon on Coolangatta Beach that measures a whopping 42km. But you don’t have to take part, thank goodness. Simply come on over to enjoy the atmosphere and soak up the action.
It’s going to last one full weekend, with a short 21km course to spectate on the side. So when is it? Mark your calendar for October 30 and October 31.
Whale Watching on the Gold Coast
If the above hasn’t got you excited yet, then this will. Whale watching season has officially arrived on the Gold Coast, so now’s the time to head over to catch the majestic humpback whales on their annual migration.
What’s your budget? You can book a whale watching tour for a guaranteed up-close sighting (Whales in Paradise, Spirit of Gold Coast, etc.) or you can see them for free from the coast. That’s right – pack your best pair of binoculars and park up at Tumgun Lookout Burleigh Head National Park, Burleigh Hill, Point Danger or The Spit Gold Coast.
