Visit a different kind of Wildlife Park. In the heart of Burleigh Heads not far from our Palm Beach Apartment Accommodation, you will find David Fleay Wildlife Park. It is a conservation park that allows visitors to see native animals, particularly threatened native species, amidst a cool rainforest. You will see animals that you might not see in other natural parks.
The park features four distinct habitats—wetland, rainforest, mangrove and open eucalypt forest. You can explore the park from the safety of boardwalks and pathways. The animals are displayed in settings as close as possible to their natural homes.
You will find fascinating creatures like the endangered southern cassowary, freshwater and saltwater crocodiles, the near threatened Lumholt’z tree-kangaroo, the wedge-tailed eagle, a variety of snakes, and so much more.
The Nocturnal House is a special section for animals that are active at night. This is your chance to see them in action during daytime. You will find delightful creatures like the platypus, yellow-bellied gliders, the greater bilby, the mahogany glider, and the Julia Creek Dunhart.
Guided walks led by knowledgeable rangers and volunteers provide enlightening facts about the plants and animals. Enjoy an up close and personal look at Australia’s native animals, and learn about how you can help protect these threatened animals.
