The Festival
In case you didn’t know, the Swell Sculpture Festival has a long and fruitful history. SWELL Sculpture Festival, based in Currumbin on Queensland’s Gold Coast, is a multidisciplinary arts enterprise that connects people, art, and location. SWELL has put on 873 sculptures at the principal show on Currumbin Beach since 2003 and has continued to forge links between people, art, and the site.
Since then, Currumbin Beach has become a vast outdoor art gallery of modern sculptures by national and international artists during the SWELL Sculpture Festival. For the 2023 edition of the festival, Currumbin Beach will showcase approximately 70 massive modern sculptures and pop-up installations. The SWELL Smalls Gallery and the cultural activities at SWELL Fringe are also returning.
